It has become difficult for retailers, processing manufacturers and consumers to realize whether a supplied food product, or any of its ingredients, comply with the declared specifications, e.g. the presence of bovine-material in sausages or convenience products. Particularly in blended or highly processed products the analysis is difficult using conventional methods and obtaining meaningful and reliable results is often not possible.

By applying PCR Eurofins GeneScan is able to detect DNA sequences which are specific for an animal species, even in complex and highly processed sample material.
